Early E Byrds and Gallery Coffee Coming to Marquette
The Latest from Marquette, MI by Brian Cabell
BIG CHANGES COMING to downtown Marquette. Two recently shuttered businesses, the Steinhaus restaurant and Boomerang clothing shop, will soon become the Earl E. Byrds restaurant and Gallery Coffee Company, respectively.
And yes, you might be familiar with those names—they’re businesses in Munising that are now expanding to Marquette.
“I’m hellbent on making it happen by this summer,” says Tom Dolaskie, the co-owner of several businesses in Munising including Earl E Byrds and Gallery Coffee, as well as the recently opened Slabz restaurant inside the Ramada Inn. “I’m really excited by the Marquette vibe.”
Both of the new businesses are located in the Harlow Block at the corner of Front and Washington Streets. That building was recently purchased by Josh Paquette and Charlie Holsworth, partners in the Base Hospitality Group.
“Our interest is to create new life and vibrancy in that building downtown, and we think these two businesses will do that,” says Holsworth.
Dolaskie and his partners will also be leasing space upstairs in the Harlow Block for their business, Deployed Technologies.
Holsworth says Base Hospitality hasn’t yet signed a lease with Dolaskie’s group for the spaces, but he fully expects that to happen as soon as Dolaskie gets approval from the city. Neither side expects any major delays.
What can we expect from Earl E Byrds? A breakfast and lunch diner— with breakfasts in the $15 range. And Gallery Coffee? A coffee shop during the day and, provided they obtain a liquor license, a bar at night.
It's right next to a 2 story parking garage.
