Yeah, the Dems lacked a solid message, but he should've lost even if he was running against another felon. We've had about a decade to learn that he is among the most vile and selfish, petty, and dangerous people on earth. If not for a weak AG he would've faced trials for his Jan. 6th election interference crimes. But yeah, people had to think too hard about the contrast between the candidates. No, it's the same thing Dickens warned us about - beware ignorance and want, but especially ignorance. Case in point - the articles documenting the "truly clueless Google searches" that spiked on election day: who is running for President? did Joe Biden drop out? can I vote online? is Trump a Republican? It's always "the economy, stupid" but maybe this election shows that stupid has its own place in the outcome?
I know. Sexist, racist, fascist, xenophobic, felonious orange man against the baby killing, child mutilating, war mongering, working class punishing, small business killing, communist, wacko, lawfare waging, vindictive, hateful, Hollywood hypocritical, technocratic, kleptocratic, oligarchic, corrupt bureaucratic opposition. Not much of a choice. Perhaps we all should move back to the lands of our ancestors and leave the country to the Native Americans and illegal immigrants. Maybe even the Native Americans should return to Asia, the land of their ethnic origins before crossing the Bering Straits land bridge and the illegals go home too, leaving the land to the animals, ala Agenda 2030.
It is amazing that Marquette county is so out of touch with itself and the rest of the UP. The entire UP was a sea of red for the presidential vote, with only Marquette county as a lone island of blue. Yet voting for Karl who while is a known and trusted name - but who has been a staunch Republican and shared many deep red views openly for decades, and currently aligns with where the new administration is going to be taking the country on everything from the environment to immigration to the economy. How can one county contradict itself so much in a single election cycle? It's ridiculous.
Really makes it look like the folks in the city are not in tune with the interests of the rest of the UP. If this keeps up - Marquette is going to be the same kind of black eye to the region that Madison and Milwaukee are to WI, and Chicago is to IL. Do better, Marquette.... you know damn well Karl has the UPs best interest in mind and heart, and you need to realize that so does the rest of the right, for the whole country.
It's almost as if the people in Marquette with more education, experiences with other people, and interests in growing a strong economy would prefer a candidate not steeped in conspiracy theories and isolationism... Maybe the rest of the UP needs to take a long hard look at itself and figure out why they're backwards.
Your response is one of satire, right? Cause there is no way you can be serious with this nonsense.
The "educated" and "experienced" lot of Marquette only see the world through a drug & alcohol induced haze while also donning a set of artisan glasses and congratulating each other on how "progressive" they are by way of exclusion and bias guising itself as equality. The city opening itself to being a tourism hot spot while simultaneously turning it's back on the residents - some of which have been here for generations - was simply plunging the knife deeper into those who built this community. Until distilleries and dispensaries came along with the tourism - MQT was floundering ever since the base closed.
This hardly qualifies as progress on any of those fronts, nor for the community. Cost of living is up, housing costs are up, drug use is up, crime is up, resident animosity is up... and right along with it - the number of people fleeing the city is up.
The problem with the way whackadoos thinking like how you posted above is that y'all actually believe that even though only one county is (now) blue in the UP - it's everyone else who is backwards - not the few who live in their drug-fueled, hi-inflation bubble, naw.
Look at the UP election map. Look at the state election map. Look at the national election map. Those tiny pockets of blue all have one thing in common: It is where the concentrations of whackadoos are located. All those concentrated areas also share the exact same problems I listed in the paragraph above. The rest of the land that has not been infiltrated by whackadoo group-think and that actually does live in reality - is lit brightly red.
Thank god somehow Karl still got elected despite MQT. With his "U.P. First" agenda and his alignment with the rest of the country and our incoming administration and agenda - he can hopefully help to show how much better things can and will be, and we can turn this county back to it's normal color come next cycle. We've had enough betrayal in the UP to last a while.
I agree about the terrible negative campaign against Karl Bohnak. The postcard mailers were so clumsy and amateurish (and false) that they resulted not in the Democratic candidate shooting herself in the foot but in blowing her legs off with a land mine. Likewise with the ads online.
Agreed Brian..the political ads concerning Karl Bohnak came off as mean spirited and cringy. Her campaign manager made a bad decision but Hill of course “approved this message” Probably cost her the seat in Lansing
Mean spirited is the left's MO. "Tolerant left" has been the most ironic rhetoric for decades, now. They are not interested at all in meeting in the middle - and they will not simply voice dissenting opinion - but openly & hostilely attack anyone with opposing views while trying to publicly shame & belittle them - and even go so far as to try to ruin their livelihoods. That is a tactic that is reserved for whackadoo extremists who are more angry at themselves than they are with anyone else. They only know how to tear down their opposition rather than demonstrate how they themselves would do good. This tactic is old and tired and America has spoken regarding it.
The attack ads from the left were of this nature across the entire country - and it is downright shameful. Anyone who has ever met Karl knows he is the kindest man in the world, with a ton of intelligence, thought, consideration in his head & heart. He absolutely has the best interests of not just the central UP but all of the UP in mind with his new mission - and is without question the best person for the job. ANY attack against him of any degree is flatly unfounded and downright disingenuous - completely without merit. Anybody who does speak ill about him should ignored, outright.

906 Restyle didn’t close because of lack of business fyi. It was other reasons.

Thanks
Karl’s neutral messages could be misunderstood to lean left.
He's not neutral... not at all.
